I’m in the same position as you, although so far out of the loop that I didn’t even know what was happening until I received the open letters.
As someone who also doesn’t monetize my substack and never would, I also don’t want to pay for a hosting site but also know I’m not contributing to helping this place earn $$ otherwise.
I’m also not sure yet what to do. I don’t have a large sub base, but I’m certain I would lose them all should I migrate somewhere else.
Maybe that doesn’t matter? Nothing I’ve ever written has been so earth-shatterjng or life changing as to be missed. I’m not ready to stop writing, but I’m always ready to fade quietly away.
I’m not certain yet which direction the wind blows for me, I just know I will be fine either way.
