I love your last paragraph! We definitely need more good. Great post!

I fear for what’s coming next. Project 2025 wants to totally reshape our government, perhaps to the point where the USA is no more. The President himself told his followers that they won’t need to vote anymore, to illustrate the extreme possibilities running through my head. There is talk about putting our currency back on the gold standard, which could be disastrous. There is some talk about defaulting on debt, and bringing on a depression (the pain and sacrifice Elmo talked about is our pain and sacrifice, he will be fine). There is bird flu spreading in the Midwest, but he and RFK Jr will be in charge of this potential next pandemic. Plenty of possibilities for going off the rails.

Or maybe he will be as inept as he was last time, and we’ll get through this okay. Unfortunately, there seems to be many corrupt grifters helping him out this time, so I don’t think that’s possible this time.

The question for me is the degree our country is f*cked up by this administration. Or if we even have a country that we like, we might become that sh*thole banana republic he always talked about. Can we ever recover from this?

I feared for this election result. I don’t know if Biden would have won, but I just felt that America’s misogyny showed with Hillary’s loss, and America’s racism showed even though Obama won and especially with his support by so many, and unfortunately I was proven correct. I was extremely unhappy Biden was pushed out for Kamala, as much as I have really loved her campaign. I just felt that America was still just too racist and sexist a country, as shown by the support he got from voters this time.

As an Asian person of color, I have felt and feared racism, even in California, where there are plenty of red counties and cities. I fear for my children, I fear for all my extended families and friends. I fear for all my fellow minorities whose skin color appears to be a problem for many others.

And the SCOTUS took off the guardrails, so I don’t know if there’s even a way out of this. Unless, ironically, the SCOTUS finally realizes what they have wrought, and finally pushes back at some point. But I’m not hopeful that they will.

So, I wait hopefully for the country I love to survive the coming years, and see if there are enough people who sees the light of America, as stated by our founders, as worth keeping.
